When you hire a professional moving company to take the reins on your moving project, did you know that there are some things you can do (and others you should not do!) to help speed the process along even faster?
A smooth move comes from everybody working together. Here are things that your movers wish you knew:
This means knowing if we’ll need access to a gate or an elevator. Can our moving truck drive up to your house? Will there be room to park? Do you live on a busy city street with limited parking or time constraints? You don’t want to have any surprises on moving day, especially anything involving our truck's access points.
Moving a piano? Some refrigerators? That hot tub? If an item may need some extra loving care, please let our movers know so that we can plan accordingly.
Stragglers and non-packed items only make your movers' lives a little more difficult. :You know what they’ll really appreciate? If everything is packed up, taped, labeled and ready to go by the time they arrive!
Be nice to your movers. Don’t pack heavy items in large boxes. For example, books should go into smaller boxes while blankets, pillows and lamps can live in those larger boxes.
Moving a dresser with full drawers just adds unnecessary weight to an already heavy and oddly shaped item. Instead, pack up your drawer items separately.
Not only for your movers, but for you, too! Labeling which rooms those boxes belong in along with what items are enclosed in each box will save a lot of shuffling around later. If you want to be even more organized, check out our handy, color-coded moving labels.
Jewelry, cash and medicine should be handled by you personally. If you have other sentimental items that need to be packed (say, your Grandmother's fine china, for example), just let us know and we will handle those packages with extra care.
We’re professionals – and we love our job! Step back and let us do the dirty work. We're there to do the heavy lifting. We’re used to working together, and we have a really good system in place. Letting us do our thing will help the move go as efficiently as possible.
Make sure you're nearby in case your movers have any questions about where an item goes, or what they should and shouldn’t be moving.
Never required or expected, but it sure is appreciated by your movers! Especially to cool down on a hot summer day or to warm up on a cold winter weekend!
